Cristian Romero caught up in spat with Bodo/Glimt star as Tottenham defender tells Europa League opponents not to 'talk so much'

Cristian Romero was involved in a spat with a Bodo/Glimt player after Tottenham celebrated a goal in front of the Norwegian side's fans on Thursday.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Spurs booked their place in the Europa League final with a 2-0 win in the second leg of their semi-final tie against Bodo/Glimt, going through with a 5-1 aggregate victory. After Dominic Solanke opened the scoring at the Aspmyra Stadion before Pedro Porro doubled their lead.

    During Spurs' celebrations for the second goal, Bodo/Glimt defender Jostein Gundersen voiced his anger for doing so in front of his team's supporters, leading to a back-and-forth with Argentine defender Romero.

    "I feel like they are trying to annoy us. I didn't like that. That's how football is. After the game there was a 'handshake' and a good atmosphere," Gundersen told . "[Romero] first started with some comments to me, and then I responded. He said something like: 'You guys shouldn't talk so much'. It was in the heat of the match. Then we put it behind us."

    Asked what the referee said to them, he added: "The referee said we shouldn't argue and that we had to calm down. He didn't want anything like that. If we went to each other, we would get a card."

    Ange Postecoglou's men will go on to face Manchester United in the Europa League final on May 21. Before that, though, they will meet Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday before a trip to Aston Villa five days later.
