  WHAT HAPPENED?

  A big update from suggests that both De Ligt and Mazraoui will become Manchester United players before the end of the month "if all goes to plan". The ongoing talks between the Old Trafford club and Bayern Munich are described as "underway" and "positive".

  United manager Erik ten Hag had both players during his time in charge of Ajax and is thought to be a driving force behind the double pursuit. The departure of Raphael Varane and ongoing injury concerns regarding Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, on top of Leny Yoro's foot surgery, has left the centre of defence light, which De Ligt could help with. Full-back depth was also an issue last season, which explains the interest in Mazraoui.
